Our third workshop this year
On 25th of October we have hosted another ‘Destination Cloud’ event at Novotel Paddington Hotel in London.
It was the third ‘Destination Cloud’ workshop we held this year.
During the March event we talked about futureproofing IT using Microsoft cloud. In September we demonstrated to our guests the 5 reasons why SMBs should adopt MS cloud solutions. Last week we focused on Microsoft Azure and how businesses should prepare for adopting its services.
Great turnout
On this occasion we had the pleasure of hosting IT specialists and business decision makers representing financial, retail, property, fintech, pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. First attendees arrived minutes past 9.00 am. After registrations and an informal chat over breakfast buffet we moved to the conference room and the workshop commenced.
Planning for cloud
The presentation started with a detailed overview of the process of planning for cloud adoption. Firstly, Meritum’s MD explained how to modify company’s IT roadmap to accomodate for cloud solutions and skilfully execute a cloud project.
Second on the agenda was the topic that roused the most interest with our attendees. Choosing between 100% cloud and hybrid deployment can be difficult for businesses just starting their cloud journey. It often requires a considerable amount of experience and knowledge to make the right choice. Our experts provided great examples and success stories that helped our participants understand which solution is best suited for them. A long discussion followed with everyone sharing their experiences and concerns.
How to build a Proof of Concept
After a short coffee break the presentation resumed. Meritum’s panellists demonstrated how to plan a Proof of Concept and which services to choose for it’s execution. Next, they specified actions that need to be taken to prepare an organisation for implementing cloud solutions.
Final thoughts
The final part of the presentation was devoted to identifying quick wins, risks and common pitfalls of a cloud project. Based on Meritum’s experience, our experts delivered some great real life success and failure stories. The event ended with a Q&A’s session that continued over the lunch.
